BUSINESS CASE STUDIES &
CASE COMPETITIONS
A business case study requires an individual or a team to identify the issues faced by a business, develop a suitable game plan to address these key issues, and help the organization achieve certain objectives.
A business case competition is an event where teams of 3-5 receive a case study for a specific period of time. Case teams must be able to work together to present a cohesive recommendation to a panel of judges who critique their work. Winning strategies require attention to detail, creativeness and business acumen when presenting recommendations.
Whilst competition formats differ around the world, the essence is for students to emulate industry best practices and apply technical knowledge. Case competitions also allow students to network with other driven students and industry professionals through informal social gatherings and formal round table discussions of contemporary business issues.
Companies organising the case competitions receive external perspectives for an internal problem in the form of professional reports, access to faculty feedback about the case and its solutions.
